Please keep in mind, all proceeds are going to the R.E.A.D. Project, and we’d like to make a significant donation, but we can’t do that without the help and cooperation of everyone in YPC.
YOUNG PROFESSIONALS COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES “GENERATION HUNTINGTON” AWARDS PROGRAM TO SPOTLIGHT FUTURE LEADERS IN THE HUNTINGTON AREA
It is no secret that retaining young professionals in the Huntington area has been a challenge over the years. Each year, a certain number of recent high school and college graduates move away in a quest to figure out what they want for their life.
The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Committee (“YPC”) is doing its part to allow local businesses and organizations to show their appreciate for young professionals who have decided to make this area their home by creating the Generation Huntington program to recognize the next generation of leaders in the Tri-State. The Generation Huntington program will recognize five (5) young professionals who live or work in the Huntington area. The winners of the Generation Huntington awards will be selected by a group of local business and organization leaders.
“The Generation Huntington program was designed to give Huntington area businesses and organizations a forum to reach out to their young professionals and say ‘We appreciate you,’” says Matt Lockhart, an attorney at Huddleston Bolen and the YPC Community Development Chair. “The future leaders of this city might be working night shift at a local hospital, running a one-person business out of their home, or spending their weekends volunteering for local non-profits. By showcasing these young professionals through the Generation Huntington program, we are informing the Huntington community that it will remain in good hands once the current leaders of the area pass the torch.”
The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, October 14, 2011 by 5 p.m. Nominees must live or work in the Huntington area (i.e. Tri-State area) and must be under the age of 40. Nominees do not have to be YPC members. Winners will be announced at the Huntington Chamber of Commerce Volunteer Awards Luncheon on Friday, January 27th at Guyan Country Club.
Nomination forms are available HERE.
